Author's description: MacHouse Quotes is a screen saver that displays over 50 random, uplifting quotes on your screen. I made the screen saver originally just for me. The screen saver contains some of my most-loved quotes. When I was sitting around with my friends one night brain storming how to raise money for graduate school, they suggested I sell my screen saver. I offer a demo version for free and a full version for only $7. The demo version contains 10 quotes, the full version has FIVE times as many quotes!
Our verdict: You read that right. FIVE times as many quotes. We don't wish to be too hard on this developer, but aside from a PowerPoint-style transitions between images, this module is nothing more than a sequence of 50 images of white text on black backgrounds cobbled together with iScreensaver. That means for your hard-earned $7 you get 50, count 'em, 50 quotes displayed in order as your screensaver. We said "your" $7, because we sure as hell ain't forking out for this. A few minutes in any graphics program and you could duplicate this, with your own quotes, by placing images of quotes into a slidesaver module (either manually, or using an app such as slideSaver Maker. The only difference would be the stock OS X 'pan and zoom' transitions, which in our opinion are far more refined than the transitions in MacHouse Quotes. The module itself might be worth 2 stars if it were free.
